What is Tubbs Delight

Tubbs Delight is a self catering detached coastal bungalow in the heart of South Devon

Originally built in the 1960s, this self-catering coastal holiday home in South Devon has been in the same family for over 40 years and boasts breathtaking panoramic countryside views stretching from Hope Cove to Dartmoor. Take full advantage of the spacious terrace and hot tub overlooking the fields.

We're nestled in the South Devon countryside, with breathtaking views of the South Devon hills and surrounding natural settings that you can enjoy from the decking. Immerse yourself in the peacefulness and splendour of engaging walks, which treat you to an abundance of wildlife including rare species of bird, and more. We're just 5 minutes away from the prestigious destination of Salcombe, so there's plenty to see and do.

Introduction

This modern South Devon holiday bungalow has retained its original design whilst embracing the countryside setting. This is the perfect holiday pad for families and small groups alike, wonderful rural views and three beaches within a five minute drive from the house. Set in a glorious village location in Malborough, a short walk from the superb village pubs, shop and post office, and only a stone's throw from the South West Coastal Path for walkers and the beautiful beaches of Hope Cove, South Sands and Thurlestone.

Tubbs Delight is a wonderful, beautifully designed, family holiday home with a south-facing sun terrace/patio and large enclosed lawned garden. If you're looking for the perfect beachside family holiday with home comforts, dog friendly furnishings and every modern convenience you could wish for then look no further, Tubbs Delight offers all of this and more. It's also a great base from which to visit the surrounding areas with plenty of activities for the young and retired. There is a lovely playground in the village for children and a skatepark for teenagers too, if you can tear yourselves away from the beach! Relax in the evenings after a day on the beach, keep an eye on the children and dogs whilst they play in our enclosed private garden.

Tubbs Delight Internal layout

There are three bedrooms, lounge, open plan kitchen/dining room, a family bathroom and a cloakroom.

The master bedroom has a solid pine double bed, with a pine dressing table and pine wardrobe. The twin bedroom has has a pine wardrobe and also a pine cot for a baby/toddler. The smallest bedroom has bunk beds, bottom bunk is a full sized adult bed and the top bunk is only for a small child due to it being only 1.6m long, from which they can sit and watch the wildlife in the garden and fields.

The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over and a shaver socket by the backlit mirror.

The modern lounge has two sofas, and an armchair, one of which is a sofa bed which can sleep 2 adults. Flat screen SMART TV and DVD player with ancillary sockets for plugging in Laptop/Smartphone and games machines as well as external hard disk (HDD) or Memory sticks. The lounge is a light, sun-drenched room with patio doors opening directly onto the large decking and garden, letting in the summer breeze. The open fire place provides cosy warmth on cooler evenings. You will also find some tourist information, books and games in the lounge.

The kitchen dining room has a Dual fan assisted electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge and toaster. In the garage/utility room is the washing machine, dryer and freezer. It is fully equipped for preparing dinner parties, pre- barbeque snacks or just the basics - you can't beat the coffee percolator for an early morning wake-up! The table seats 6/8 people. The kitchen encompasses glorious countryside views, no better way to wash up, than stare out of the window. WIFI is available throughout the bungalow.

Outside

The terraced south-facing lawn garden is a sun-trap year round and is completely enclosed (lowest fence 4ft). You will hear the sounds of birds singing, and will see cows and sheep grazing. On winter days you can clearly see Dartmoor.

With a grass lawn for playing games or lounging, and shade under the large umbrella on the patio for enjoying cool drinks, the garden makes a lovely alternative to the beach. Later in the evening, enjoy sunset dining at the alfresco table and chairs, and the outdoor BBQ.

The piece de resistance is the outdoor haven, a private 5 person hot tub sunken in the decking (which is available at an additional cost and subject to conditions). For those who love star gazing, sit back and gaze at the clear starlit skies.

The views from the rear of the property are breathtaking and have not changed in decades. There is also a small lawn at the front of the property, planted with a border of plants.

Useful Information

There is parking for one car in the driveway at the front of the house, with EV Charger (from 2024) although there is plenty of free on street parking. There is an assortment of things for the beach including nets, buckets & spades, windbreaks, and umbrella. There is also in the garage a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer with space drying your wet weather gear.

Location

It is situated in the rural picturesque village of Malborough, only 3 miles from Salcombe, 4 miles from Kingsbridge, and 20 miles south of Dartmoor National Park.
